End of the Week Update & Important Reminders
As we wrap up our second week of the 2024/2025 school year, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for your support and involvement. It was wonderful to see so many of you at yesterday’s Open House. It was a great opportunity for you to meet our staff and get a feel for our building.
To celebrate the end of our first week, we enjoyed a fun afternoon with a book, blanket, buddy, and popsicle to cool off during last week’s heatwave. We also had our first assembly of the year, where we welcomed new staff and students, discussed school expectations, playground safety, and introduced the concept of what it means to Suncrest SHINE.
Today, we’re looking forward to our Terry Fox Assembly and Run at 1:30 PM. The donations link remains open, and your contributions are greatly appreciated.
Planners have been distributed to students, and you’ll receive a letter regarding payment soon. A big thank you to the parents who came by to help with weeding our gardens! The improvements are fantastic, but we still have two areas by the walkway that need some attention. If you have some spare time, we’d greatly appreciate any help with this.
We also encourage our families to support a litterless lunch initiative. Please send your children with reusable containers to minimize waste. Any wrappers or baggies used will be returned home with them in their lunch bags.
This year, our newsletters will be seasonal: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. For the latest school events, please regularly check our school website. Please note that classroom-specific events, such as field trips, will not be posted on the website. Check in with your child’s teacher for important date information.
Student verification forms will be sent home in the coming weeks. If you have a Yahoo email address, we encourage you to switch to a Gmail account, as we’ve been experiencing issues with communication to Yahoo addresses.
The PAC will be emailing information soon regarding the Fun Lunch program. Additionally, you will find an after-school program flyer attached to this email for your reference.

Exploring Our New Motto: “SHINES”
During the first week, we will dive into our new motto, “SHINES,” and explore its significance. Each letter in “SHINES” stands for a core value that was collaboratively created by our Suncrest community. Teachers have planned engaging activities centered around these values:
Students will rotate through various stations and participate in activities that reflect these values. They will complete a student “PASSPORT” to document their learning and experiences throughout the week. This fun and interactive approach will help us all embody the spirit of “SHINES” as we start the new school year!
Let’s make this school year one filled with learning, growth, and fun! See you all in September!
