Welcome Back to Suncrest! First Day of School Information
We’re excited to welcome all students and families to the 2025/2026 school year! Here’s what you need to know as we get ready for the first day back.
📅 First Day Schedule — Tuesday, September 2nd
The first day will be a short day – 8:55 AM to 10:00 AM. Students will go directly to their 2024/2025 classrooms, where they’ll spend the first week as we finalize class placements.
- Ms. Santi’s 2024/2025 class please meet at Room 12
- New Grade 7 students from Division 1 & 3 (2024/2025) to meet at Room 11
- Grade 4/5 MACC students to meet at Portable 3, Grade 6/7 MACC students to meet at Portable 2
- Students new to Suncrest will come into the main entrance and meet in the library (this does not include new MACC students)
- Kindergarten Families: You and your child are invited to our in-person “Welcome to Suncrest” orientation on Tuesday, September 2nd from 10:15 am to 11:15 am. Please meet outside the kindergarten classroom doors (Rooms 2 and 3). Your child will have the chance to visit our Kindergarten classrooms, try different activities and meet the kindergarten team!
Due to limited space, this event is only for our new kindergarten students and parents. We will not be able to accommodate any siblings on September 2nd.
🏫 Class Placements
We appreciate your patience as we work through the final stages of organizing our classes.
The 2025/2026 classes will hopefully be ready by the second week of school, depending on enrolment changes.
Each year, we see new registrations and student withdrawals right up to (and even after) the first day. Our staff began working on placements back in June, and we continue to collaborate closely to create balanced, thoughtful class groupings.
Please take a moment to click here to learn more about combined classes; a common structure in most Burnaby schools. This resource will help explain how they work and why they are often used.
🥪 Litterless Lunches
Suncrest is working toward becoming a litterless lunch school this year!
We encourage families to pack lunches in reusable containers instead of disposable wrappers or single-use plastics.
We’re preparing to launch a new recycling program and will need everyone’s help; students, staff, and families to make it a success. Stay tuned for more details in September!
✏️ School Supplies
No need to bring full school supplies on the first day. For the first week, students only need a few basics:
- A pencil case
- A water bottle
- A litterless lunch
Once classes are finalized, teachers will share exact supply lists.
📌 Primary students do not need to purchase supplies at this time — teachers will provide more information in September.
Looking forward to another great year at Suncrest!
